Sedation Dentistry

A+ A- A Main Content

Does the thought of going to the dentist make your entire body tense with fear? You are not alone. Many individuals allow their phobias to control their decision to see a dentist for treatment. Sedation dentistry may take some of your anxiety away. Sedation can be used for everything from invasive procedures to a simple tooth cleaning.

Located in Fort Collins, Dr. Angie Lee specializes in Sedation Dentistry and Sleep Dentistry. We offer different types of sedation dentistry. These include administering oral sedation (a pill), nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and intravenous sedation to deliver a combination of drugs. All this depends on your needs.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

With IV sedation, a patient is given medication through an intravenous line. The medication you receive places you in a light to moderate sedation state for you to be more relaxed during your dental appointment. It is Safe!

With sedation, you will need someone to drive you to and from your dental appointment. The effects of sedation can last for several hours after the process is complete. Once you arrive at our office in Fort Collins, you are allowed to rest comfortably in our warm and quiet room. During the entire time you are here, we will closely monitor you to ensure your safety.

The levels of sedation used include:

  • Minimal sedation: you are awake but relaxed.
  • Moderate sedation or conscious sedation: you may slur your words when speaking and not remember much of the procedure.
