Dr. Angie Lee offers bone regeneration when periodontal disease has damaged the tissues supporting your teeth.

Bone regeneration is a procedure that regenerates lost bone and tissue supporting your teeth. This procedure can reverse some of the damage caused by periodontal disease. Bone regeneration is a procedure our periodontist may recommend when the bone supporting your teeth has been destroyed due to periodontal disease.

The first step to bone regeneration is the removal of the disease-causing bacteria. During this procedure, your periodontist folds back the gum tissue and removes the bacteria. Your body's natural ability to regenerate bone and tissue is encouraged by membranes (filters), bone grafts, or tissue-stimulating proteins.

Once the existing bacteria is removed, regenerating bone and tissue helps to reduce pocket depth and repair damage caused by the progression of periodontal disease. You will be instructed to maintain daily oral hygiene. In addition, further professional maintenance and care will be required to eliminate the full effects of periodontal disease. Following Dr. Angie Lee's recommendations will increase the chances of keeping your natural teeth and decrease the chances of other health problems associated with periodontal disease.
