Crown Lengthening

A+ A- A Main Content

Some individuals have too much 'gum' and not enough 'tooth'. Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Lee to expose a greater amount of your tooth structure. If your teeth appear short, you may inquire about crown lengthening to improve your smile. Your teeth may actually be the proper lengths, but they are simply covered up with too much gum tissue.

During the dental crown lengthening procedure, excess gum and bone tissue are reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth, to even your gum line, or to several teeth to expose a natural, broad smile.

Crown Lengthening is also recommended before restorative or cosmetic dental procedures if gums cover too much of your teeth. If a tooth is decayed or broken below the gum line or has insufficient tooth structure for a restoration, crown lengthening will be recommended.
